A new cosy place
Gnome Sweet Gnome
Woopy ^^ it smells like cleaning!
My new web shop has been active for several weeks now, my updated/upgraded portfolio www.jbmonge.com is about to be launched as well. I’m working on an important new book project of my own, my Patreon is filled with many new tutorials and I’ve never been so active with my community.
1. I will probably use Substack more often now
to tell about my latest news / items / books, like an active newsletter. I’m using Mailchimp but creating a newsletter that people receive by the dozen everyday often goes straight to trash. I feel more comfortable to get a blog and chat right here about my stuff.
2. Meta Meta Meta… CARA
I’ve been warning about AI very early and lots of my friends shushed me down thinking they would not be touched. Well, I won’t say “I told you so” but I told you so indeed ^^. I’m actively following EGAIR (I was at the beginning of it) and EDA for their actions. I helped to build the AI act but before things really change, it will take a while. Global RESPECT is all that we ask (Laws and everything that come with).
Yet, here we are today Meta does not hide at all that by default they will consider all your personal info you shared during decades as their own unless you fill a form telling “no we don’t agree”. The link on insta is not working anymore of course and the FB link never worked. It feels like a trap…
So with Margo I will start to limit FB + Insta and see if we can do the balance with our new website and with Cara for my news that I want to share with all my artists friends and followers. No Ads, Glaze sync and friends all : what we need there.
3. Updates and focus
As my business is working entirely with the internet, I can’t shut down my Meta account until people get used to the other ways to find me. Until this moment, I will use Meta when I need to spread a commercial update.
I know very well that they will want me to buy an advert and limit the visibility so if you really like my work and want to see my news, subscribe to that channel, or my newsletter on my web shop, follow me on Cara too.
I focus my work and visibility to safe places from now on. Patreon has all my new stuff before anyone else, the rest will be spread on my own website of course and the other places will be just a tiny part of pictures.
I canceled my Artstation, I canceled all the pictures on Behance (Adobe is using AI abusively too) and I empty my Pinterest.
4. Time to be respected ;-)
I’m so tired of being one of Meta’s hens, to feel I’m a hostage in my own world and work. I need to live and to be respected the way I want.
I’m sure we will have plenty to talk about here! Feel free to join this place. It can be fun to meet.
If you need another last reason to be here, my mate Brett Bean is on for more than a decade and he is a crazy awesome artist. Follow his substack too!
